The Shipping Corporation of India was established on October 2nd, 1961, by the amalgamation of Eastern Shipping Corporation and WesternShipping Corporation. Starting out as a marginal Liner shipping Company with just 19 vessels, the SCI has today evolved into the largest Indian shipping Company. The SCI also has substantial interests in various segments of the shipping trade. SCI’s owned fleet includes Bulk carriers, Crude oil tankers, Product tankers, Container vessels, Passenger-cum-Cargo vessels, Phosphoric Acid / Chemical carriers, LPG / Ammonia carriers and Offshore Supply Vessels. Sailing through for nearly five decades, the SCI today has a significant presence on the global maritime map.

Educational Background: BE/ BTECH (Mechanical/ Naval Architecture) from AICTE Approved Engineering college with 50% marks and also (50%)in English language at Xth or XIIth.
Age Limit as on 1st January 2012: Max 28 years
Physical Fitness:
Candidate must have good health and are to be fit for sea service as per existing MS Medical rules 2000 applicable to sea farers. Should also have good eye sight ; defective color vision or color blindness NOT acceptable.
Fees: DD of Rs.1000/- (for General  & OBC) and Rs.500/- (SC & ST) drawn in favor of  The Shipping Corporation Of India Ltd, Mumbai, payable at Mumbai.
